A polish for Mr Funky Nails

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. I played with polish most of the weekend. FUN, FUN, FUN!

In real life I'm such a serious person. My honey never knows when I'm going to do something out of the ordinary. I have this thing where I scare him all the time. I probably shouldn't, but I can't help it, it's so funny! So, Saturday he went to the store and came back with a shower curtain. He, wanted to suprise me by hanging it. His way of thinking was, if I thought he was doing his business he'd be safe. NOT! Ok, so I knew he wasn't doing his business, but I didn't tell him that. LOL So, I creep around and peek through the slit and the frame of the door and bang really hard on the door. OMG, did he get scared! He got so scared he got mad! I just fell out laughing! I laughed so much I started crying and my side and tummy started to hurt! I think I scared him that bad because he was trying to surprise me and plus he said it was a little creepy because all he saw was my eye between the slit. HAHA! Ok, enough of my craziness, on to my creation.

Today is my honey's birthday. I do have something planned, but can't say what because he reads my posts. Instead, I'll share the creation I made for him. His favorite color is green, so I decided to make a green for him. That's what I was doing when I decided to scare him. HEHE This is a really awesome golden olive green. I used two coats and topped with SV. Happy birthday honey. I hope you like it.

Have a great day!

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone, I hope y'all's week has been great so far :D

Today, I'm thankful to a lady named Melissa Booker. Sunday, we went to the Cheesecake Factory. Melissa was our server. We were about to pray when she took a hold of my bf and Kellie's daughter's hand. My bf thought she wanted a good tip. Not the case. After we prayed she went on to tell some of her story and God's work in her life. She asked us to keep her and her husband Keith in our prayers. You see, I'd been struggling with something and here she was boldly declaring her faith in God and claiming God's promises to people she doesn't know. I know Melissa will probably never see this post, but thank you, you reminded me never to be embarrassed or uncomfortable sharing my faith.

Have a great day everyone :D

Vibrant Champagne Wishes Jelly Sandwich

Hi everyone, I hope you all are having fabulous Terrific Tuesday!

Today, I'm showing a mani from 2 Saturdays ago. I was inspired by Marisa from Polish Obsession to try this mani. Thank you Marisa :D I've never tried a jelly sandwich before and thought it would be nice to try. I used 1 thin coat of Vibrant from my Every Woman Collection, I added 1 coat of Champagne Wishes from my Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous Collection, then added one more thin layer of Vibrant. I didn't know what to expect because I tend to use thick coats, but I did pretty dang good applying thin coats. It turned out so awesome! The holo glitter in Vibrant and the gold micro and hex glitter from Champagne Wishes made it so sparkly! I received so many compliments. And, we all know red is my color, I didn't want to take it off! Oh, Vibrant is a classic red with holo micro glitter and Champagne Wishes is gold micro and hex glitter in a clear base.

Don't forget to stop at Polish Obsession and check out her awesome blog :D

Today is the last day of 50% off all products at Funky Nails. I have a tab at the top of the page that takes you directly to the shop.

Have a great Terrific Tuesday!

The wonderful ladies of Every Woman

Hi everyone, I hope y'all had an awesome weekend. Friday, we went to a DCI competition. Saturday, we went to a watermelon festival. Both of these were a first for me. I usually I like indoor activities because, I DO NOT LIKE THE HEAT! And, both of these were outside and let me tell you it was HOT, HOT, HOT! But, still I enjoyed both events. Sunday, after church we took our friend Kelly and her daughter to the Cheesecake Factory. It was a great weekend!

I've posted a couple of pics of some ladies in my Every Woman photo. So, I thought it would be fun to share who they are. These ladies were so kind letting me use their pictures. I couldn't find some of the original pics so I used what I could find.

This is my niece Teresa. She's the kindest, most beautiful young lady you'll ever meet. I couldn't pin her to just one, she's Every Woman rolled into one awesome package.

This is Samantha, my daughter in law. She's real, she's raw, she's ride or die! If you're ever in need of some back up she's your girl! I'd say she's a Daring Diva.

This is my Sister and her daughter Jasmin. My sister's the one in the Black Hawk on her way to a mission in Iraq. My sister is very conservative and loves a classic look. I'd say she's Chic. When my niece Jasmin was little she'd talk non stop. She was very inquisitive. I'd say she's Exhilarating.

This is my cousin Toni. I have acronyms for certain people, I call her my BCF (best cousin forever.) I'd say she's an Exhilarating Diva.

This is Kelly. I've know Kelly for a long time. I've just recently gotten to know her a little better. I'd say she's Vibrantly Exhilarating.

This is my BFF Julie and her BCF Diana (best cousin forever.) I'd say Julie is Daring. If you dare her to do something she rises to the occasion. I'll post a pic about that later. Diana is one harding working woman. I'd say she's Chic.

This is Cindy and my sister. Cindy and my sister have been best friends since they were babies. Literally, my sister was born 2 months after Cindy. My mom and Cindy's mom would take care of them for each other. I call Cindy: my sister's sister from another mister. Cindy is a force to be reckoned with! I'd say she's a Diva.

This is Sara and her husband George. Sara is such a sweetheart. I'd say she's Every Woman.

This is Yessenia. We just became facebook friends sometime last year. She's a great lady. She works for Essential Therapy & Wellness. If you're in Houston and need a healing touch she's your lady. I'd say she's Vibrant, Exhilarating, Daring, and a Diva.

Shannon is just awesome. I'd say she's Vibrantly Exhilarating with some Chicness thrown in.

This is Lindy, my son David's cousin. I've known her since she was five. Lindy was a good little girl and she's grown up to be a wonderful wife and  mother of three boys. I'd say Lindy is Exhilarating.

This is Elva. I've known Elva many years. She is without a doubt Daring. I could not find a pic of her smiling. Elva, smile girl!

This is Farnaz. She is exotically beautiful. I used to be her boss when I was a manager at la Madeleine. She's the reason my nails are now square. She's a very feisty young lady. I'd say she's a Daring, Exhilarating Diva.

I couldn't find a picture of the 5th lady from the right of the pic. Her name is Sherry. She's my son David's aunt. I've also known her since she was 5. Sherry is rowdy, rowdy, rowdy! If you want to have a good time she's your lady. I'd say she's Daringly Exhilarating. Sherry, if you're reading this, Don't be blocking me from downloading your pics! LOL
And of course me! Well, I'm Every Woman!

There you have it. All these ladies are special to me. Some I've known since forever, some I've just gotten to know. They're Vibrant, they're Daring, they're Exhilarating, they're Chic, and they're Divas. They are; Every Woman.

Old Fatigues vs New Fatigues

Hi everyone, I hope y'all's weekend is off to a great start! Yesterday, I attended my very first DCI competition. I had so much fun! Ok, it was outside and it was HOT, HOT, HOT, but other than it was awesome. Today, we're going to a watermelon festival. I've haven't been to one of those either. I can't wait! I hope you all have some awesome plans too :D

Ok, today I have a comparison of Fatigues. So, the other day I was going to use Fatigues but noticed bleeding and curling. I was like, "AARRGG!" The glitter I used was a pre mixed glitter with shard like glitter in it as well. That was what I loved about that glitter. So, yeah I was a lot disappointed that it was this glitter that bleed. I've since remixed it adding a gold shimmer to the clear base. I didn't add to much because I didn't want to change the base color, just add a little shimmer to it. I must say it turned out pretty dang awesome! Ok, on to the pics.

The bottle on the left is a clear base and the bottle on the right is a dark and murky base, no bueno.

Same here, upper finger you can clearly see the base color and the bottom finger it's darker and changes the base color.

Before I decided to start with my Every Woman Collection, I created several jellies, but it seemed everyone had the same color ideas, so I put these on the back burner. I do have plans for these in the future though. This red was actually the color I was going to use as Vibrant but decided not to. I'm going to darken it up for the next collection I use this for. Which may not come out until Easter, I know a long time away.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone, I hope y'all's week has been great so far.

Today, I'm thankful for two patients I saw earlier this week. As I was taking their vitals, they each told me I was the kindest person they've come across in a long time and my smile was like a ray of sunshine to them. They went on to tell me that my smile was the only one they'd see until their next visit. I was like, surely they must be kidding, this can't be true. I know there are a lot people in this world that are alone and don't have anyone to talk to, but I've never experienced it first hand. I'm so thankful to these two wonderful people who gave me a moment of clarity. You just never know what a smile can do for the soul. So, go out and smile at the world :)

Have a great day everyone!

Funky Nails news

Hi everyone! I hope you all a great weekend.

I've been super busy these past few weeks. I still have about 2 1/2 weeks left at my extern site. After that I'll be able to focus more on Funky Nails.

This morning I was going to use Fatigues as my mani, but noticed one of the glitters bleed and that same glitter curled. So, I'll be discontinuing this for a while. I've sent emails to those who ordered this polish. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Have a great everyone :D

Missing you

How I wish sometimes we could avoid the world's harsh realities, but that is not the case. I'm sharing this post because sometimes we just need a way to cope.

These past few days have been really tough for me and my family. My son and daughter in law lost their dog, Mogley was such a fun loving playful dog. Will you all stop by her page and leave them some hugs and kisses, they really need some right now.

Have you ever lost someone you love and wanted one more conversation, one more chance to make up for the time when you thought they would be here forever? If so, then you know you can go your whole life collecting days, and none will outweigh the one you wish you had back.

The loss of your presence these past 17 years has not been easy. Something I've never gotten over, I've just learned to endure your absence.

Today and everyday since you left, I think of you constantly. I know you're watching my every move from heaven above, making sure I receive all of God's love and favor. Life has not been the same without you. You were not only my cousin but my best friend. I love and miss you so very much.

Happy Birthday Love, Minnie

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone, I hope where y'all are at it's sunny and beautiful! Here in H-Town it's dark and rainy. I'll just keep saying, "This is the day the Lord has made, I'll rejoice and be glad in it!"

This Thankful Thursday, I want to thank my wonderful boyfriend Jesse. I'm so conservative and serious all the time, he brings out the childlike qualities in me that I try so hard not to show anyone. So, the other day I was in bed and said to myself, "I'm totally gonna scare him!" So, he gets in bed and I jump up and and say, "ROAR!" OMG, he got so scared! Hehe! So, now he's on a mission to pay me back. Haha! It's ok, I have plans for you mister!

Thank you honey, for being the wonderful God seeking man you are and bringing out my playful side.

Self Reflection Sunday; Bragging

Hi everyone, it's been a while since my last post and even longer since I've done a Self Reflection Sunday post.

Warning: I talk about my faith in God.

I've been thinking a lot about bragging or what some would consider bragging. Lately, I've not been wanting to share my blessings. What, I mean is the wonderful favor God has cast upon me. 2011 and 2012 have been the best seasons of my life. I was able to quit my job, go to school, travel to NYC with the only best friend I have, I created Funky Nails, I'm traveling again to NYC this fall or winter, I'm planning an international trip for next year, I'm looking into buying equipment for Funky Nails, I graduated with honors, made the Dean's List, I'm going to start a Non-Profit Organization in the future. I actually felt bad for all He's given me and I shouldn't, so, I'm not going to anymore. I'm in no way bragging, no, not all. What I'm saying is, we should never be embarrassed about the wonderful gifts God has given us. We don't honor God by hiding the grace and favor he casts on us. I'm not saying to go around boastful or high minded. No, be humble about it give thanks to God for his grace and favor. If you read Genesis 1, even, God, Himself, when creating the heavens and earth said, "...and it was good." So, let's never feel bad about the wonderful things we have and what we've accomplished. Instead, pay it forward!

Have a great day :D
