Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone :D I hope this Thankful Thursday has started off awesome for you all. For me it has! Yesterday, @SISTERBRATION twitted about Oprah's Lifeclass coming to Houston and how to apply for tickets. So, I applied. The tickets were drawn lotto style. In my excitement I totally forgot to retweet, but I did retweet @GrowingOWN when she twitted about it. Anyway, I was picked! I couldn't believe it! My best friend Julie and I will be attending! Yay! I hope to you ladies there!

Today's Thankful Thursday post is going to be a bit different and it's a long.

Last week my boyfriend and I attended his cousin Joey's funeral. The death of a loved is always hard. One never knows what to say. All I knew to do was hug the grieving family. My condolences to him and his family.

After the funeral when we got home, my boyfriend put a paper on the refrigerator. I was curious as to what it was. So I started reading and the tears just started flowing. These were poems Joey had written. So, I'm going to share them with you all. I'm not going to edit them. At the end I'll post some thoughts.

Joey's introduction of himself:

I was born with Cerebral Palsy, and I am confined to a wheelchair. I cannot speak. As a result it is very hard for me to communicate with people.

I use a computer for my writing, it has a special device called, Kenx. The device allows me to use the computer with a head switch, Because I cannot use my hands.

I went to school in Kenedy Texas, where I was place in a special education class. I learned very little there.

I finely graduated and then I went to Palo Alto College part time in San Antonio Texas Where I made the president list twice.

I started writing when I was seventeen years old, I'm now twenty seven.

My work includes, No Where To Turn, If They Could See Me Now, and Feelings. And several other poems.

If They Could See Me Now

I arrived here one cold December night. The trip to life was a hard one. the doors of life almost closed. My parents decided to to call me Joseph, to them nothing was wrong, Mother began to notice something was wrong. When she put me on my stomach I would not pick up my head, my hands were always closed. My parents took me to a doctor in San Antonio. The doctor said, I had Cerebral Palsy and would be mentally retarded. I would like to see that doctor now, I wonder what she would say? would she talk to me or about me?

                                                              Feeling

I can't express my true feelings so I'm writing on a machine that has no feelings.
It can't hug me & tell me it's alright, it will get better.
Oh god, how I wish that I could walk. Oh how I wish I could sing & dance.
God why did you send me down this way?
I know that you must have send me down this way for a purpose, but what was that purpose?

Ok, my thoughts. I believe we all have a purpose. I was deeply touched when I read 'Feelings' his life did/does have purpose. That's why I decided to share his story. Joey did not let his physical condition defeat him. He forged on like a true soldier. Joey taught me a great lesson. As long as we have breath and a heartbeat, we have purpose. We're all faced with obstacles and challenges in life. Like Joey, we should be forging on, living our best lives right here, right now! Joey, I know you're in Heaven singing and dancing! You're making sure we receive all of God's blessings!

When I asked his sister Kathleen if I could share his poems here's what she said, "Of course!!! If it were up to him, he'd want them spread around the world!" Thank you K for allowing me the privilege of sharing your remarkable brother!

I don't ask much, but today, I'm asking you all to share this wonderful man's story.

Salon Fiasco

Hi everyone :D I hope y'all's week has been great so far. I'm sorry I've been gone for hot minute.

Just quick post.

Today, I woke up a little under the weather and decided I wanted to get my nails done. Not by me, but a salon. Before I start, I live in Houston but I'm from Rosenberg (30 minutes outside Houston.) I usually go back home to get my nails done by Tracy at Image Nails. Well, today, I didn't feel up to the drive and went to a salon near me. Now, I know that no one can do my nails the way I can. I stopped having high standards for salon manicures. Ok, that said. I have to say this is by far the worst salon mani I've ever gotten. I really wanted to get mad, but really, why? I knew the possible outcome. What did I do? I laughed inside, because the tech was proud of her job. Hehe! I didn't have the heart to get mad. I just let her massacre my nails. I love my nails and my polish but, well, their just nails. They'll grow back. Ok, on to the massacre of a mani. The first pic is the salon and the last two are mine. Can you tell the difference? HAHA!

These are after swatching about 4 colors.

Have a great day :D

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone. :D It's Thankful Thursday! And, indeed it has been a most fantastic Thankful Thursday!

Yesterday, I went to school to officially sign out, so I can graduate on time. Well, they said I had to do 2 more days of at least 7.5 hours each day at my extern site. I was not happy about that at all. But, it is what it. So, today, I'm seeing patients and they just kept me smiling and laughing all day! One guy gained a little weight. He says, "Gosh, I'm getting fat, ugh." Which, by the way he was not. I looked at him and said, "Sir, I will not feel sorry for you. Women have been struggling with this since forever." All the while laughing. He said, "Girl, you are one crazy white lady!" One patient's blood pressure was on the high side. The patient say's "I just get nervous around white folks!" HAHA He was joking of course. Then, a lady patient that takes steroid shots works out so much because she doesn't want to get bloated. She looked good to me. Anyway, we were talking about the bloating side effects of steroid shots. Well, she stands up and just rubs her body down and says, "BUT I LOOK GOOD!" OMG, she just had me cracking up!

They say laughter is the best medicine. I have to say I'll be good and healthy for a while. Thank you!

Then, I go to the post office to pick up a package. And, much to my amazement it's an awesome nail mail package from Inkypolisholicious I was so shocked! I quickly opened the package and there was a bag full of polish and snacks. Of course, I go for the food first! HEHE That was just icing the cake! Check out their blog. It's run by two great cousins. I have nicknames for them, Inky and Licious. So go check out Inky and Licious.

Thank you so much girls!

Have a great day!

P.S.
The school called and said, I only have to do one day! YAY!

I could not capture the awesomeness of this glitter! It's so pretty! I took sunlight, shade, and artificial light pics and I just couldn't capture the beauty! I hope you all like it! I used 2 coats of the base color and one coat of the glitter and one topped with SV.

Warning pic heavy and in different positions. Sorry, I don't mean to make your eyes cross eyed! HEHE I hope you like them :D

Diva; Female Version of a Hustla

Happy Friday everyone! I hope y'all's week was great!

With all the testing and mixing I've been doing, I had to remind myself, I'm Every Woman! HEHE So, I chose Diva as my weekend mani. I don't know why, the first thing I thought of as I was grabbing for the bottle was Beyonce's song Diva. Sometime this weekend I'll be joining my lovely friend Yessenia for drinks. I think Diva is quite fitting for the occasion. I used two coats and topped with SV.

Don't forget everything is 50% off and no shipping. Just go to the Shop Funky Nails tab.

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! It's Thankful Thursday. I hope you all are having a fabulous week!

Welcome new followers! Thank you for being here. I do Thankful Thursday posts to keep me grounded and humble. To just take a moment and give thanks to and for all the wonderful people and things in my life.

Today, I'm thankful for my wonderful friend Yessenia. Sometimes, even encouragers need encouragement. Sometimes when this road I'm traveling seems like it's so hard and I want to just stop and take the easy way. She's there with her wonderful words of encouragement. She doesn't even know it. I read her words and say to myself, "I'm not the only one trying to make a difference." Our paths may be different, but the goal is the same; To empower people to go after their dreams.

Thank you Yesenia for your daily words of encouragement.

Have a great day!

The Magic's In Me!

Hi everyone! Happy Pink Wednesday! Sorry for the late post. I've been super busy!

This is just a quick post.

Today, well, since Monday actually, I've had on The Magic's In Me! I know it's pink, I was in pink mood! HAHA! Anyway, this is from Star Trinkets. I don't usually post other brands besides mine, however, I do support my friends. Even, if it is nail polish. This is a very pretty glitter polish. It can be worn on it's own or like I did, to save the precious polish I layered it over a pink. I'll use Susan's description, "The Magic's in Me! is full of holo glitter "hidden" in the sheer, shimmery reddish purple base. There is also larger fuchsia and gold hex glitter." Please visit her at Star Trinkets and take a look at all her goodies. She also makes jewelry using nail polish!

Have a great day!

It's raining glitter!

Hi everyone, I hope y'all's weekend is off to a great start! I don't have any plans today, just stay home and relax. Maybe, scare my man some more! hehe :D

Today, I have another glitter to show you all. This is square copper, shaved copper, and red hex glitter with some copper shimmer. Lots of copper. HAHA I love this glitter! It looks like it's raining glitter on my fingers. Oh, the reason I say, "shaved glitter,' is because it's not quite shard glitter, but looks kinda shaved. I swatched it over black and it really looks awesome, but I chose to use a nude. Ok, on to the pics. I couldn't decide which pics to use, so I used them all :D

The first 3 are inside.

Outside, direct sunlight

Outside, shade

Have a great day everyone :D

Silver shard

Hi everyone, Sorry for the late post. I couldn't find my camera last night and then this morning I had to take my mom to the doctor. God says, "With long life I shall satisfy you!" Thank you God! My mom is cancer free! I could go on and on giving glory to God for all the blessings in my life, but I won't bore y'all and just get to the post.

This is my mani from yesterday. I must say, for washing dishes, mixes polishes, digging in my purse, and all the other things I've been doing, this has really kept nicely! This is a silver shard glitter in a silver shimmery base. It looks like a shattered mirror. I love it, very chic. I'm still deciding if this is going to be the final product. I'm still testing the other one I made. We shall see. It needs a bit more glitter so I'll be adding just a tiny bit more. Anyway, I used two coats of black, one coat of the shard glitter, and topped with SV.

Have a great day :D

Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! Happy Thankful Thursday! I hope y'all's week has been great! Today is my last day at my extern site, YAY!

Today, I'm thankful for the hash tag #godisgood. Seems kinda silly right? Not at all. Through that hash tag I met an awesome young man named La'Garien J Thomas. I really don't know how it happened actually. One day twitter told me I had a new follower. So, I look at his profile and see his website http://www.appointedwords.com and decided to have a look see. I read his testimony and checked out his daily tips and was quite impressed with this young man. I don't think he's even 20 years old or just barely there. His passion and enthusiasm for God inspired me! He also has a Facebook page, I accidentally friend requested his personal Facebook, instead of liking his page, haha, anyway he accepted. How awesome is that! He also has an inspirational book coming out around the end of this month. If you all follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you all know I love devotional books. So, I can't wait to buy it! I believe there's a reason this young man and I crossed paths. I may not what it is right now, but I know in time God will reveal his reasons. Even though we're almost 20 years apart in age, it just goes to show that the old and young can learn and grow from each other. Wait, I ain't old! Y'all know what I mean! Hehe!

Thank you hash tag #godisgood.

Have a great day :D
